Everybody likes guarantees. We want to sample things without getting stuck with them. If it doesn’t fit, I’m sending it back. If it doesn’t work, I want a refund. If it doesn’t pan out, I want out. This isn’t a bad approach to shopping, but it is to spirituality. Faith requires us to step out before you know if things will work out. We’re told God’s taking us somewhere good, but we’re worried about what we may have to go through to get there. How do you hang onto hope when nothing in your story is happening how you thought it would or should?
